Goals of the Summit:
•Strengthen networks with other families and care professionals
• Discuss current challenges to developing quality systems of care for CYSHCN and their families in Alabama
• Develop strategies to strengthen partnerships between families and professionals, ultimately leading to improved outcomes for CYSHCN.
• Gain skills and learn strategies to enhance leadership within organizations and communities

Augmentative Alternative Communication Clinic, United Cerebral Palsy of Birmingham
The Augmentative/Alternative Communication (AAC) Clinic at LINCPoint is an outpatient
clinic that serves individuals 12 yrs of age through adulthood.
The individuals served are functionally non-speaking and are in need of communication technology.
The AAC Clinic will evaluate individuals who are candidates for AAC and provide treatment to improve communication.
Services will also include treatment for individuals with current AAC systems.

"What's Next?" Transition Training
Register now to attend free monthly workshops for youth with disabilities and their families. The workshops will focus on transition issues like job supports, SSI/SSDI, Medicaid waivers, education planning, and health needs. Workshops start on September 13 and are being held in convenient locations throughout the state. Travel and child care subsidies are available for families. CEUs are available for social workers and nurses. Seating is limited so reserve your seat now!
These trainings are sponsored by ADAP, Family Voices of Alabama and Children's Rehabilitation Services (CRS) with grant support from the Alabama Council for Developmental Disabilities.

Take part in The IDEA National Survey Project
and share your special education experiences!
The IDEA National Survey Project is studying whether the playing field is level for children with disabilities and their parents, and whether their rights are protected.
There are separate surveys for parents, advocates, and self-advocates.
The Project is sponsored by a variety of national disability organizations.
The results will be compiled into a report that will be published this summer.
